In suspending the search for Corey Smith, Marquis Cooper and Will Bleakley, the United States Coast Guard will all but fully admit that the three men have not survived their ill fated fishing trip-turned tragedy at sea. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has already released a statement on the event. Goodell made the following statement from the league offices in New York City

"The recent tragedy saddens everyone in the NFL family. It is an event like this which forces us to reflect on our lives and the choices we make, not only as members of the National Football League but as members of the human race. We lost a good boat out there. It was 21-foot center console fishing boat. It's been recovered, but after being capsized for so long, the water damage is beyond repair. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the makers of the boat and boats everywhere".
