Rafael Furcal Claims He Was Unaware of Existence of Atlanta Braves

"I did not renege on a deal with the Atlanta Braves, as no deal was ever finalized between myself or my agent and the Atlanta Braves," Furcal read from a prepared statement.  He continued, "Furthermore, I had no knowledge of the existence of a baseball team in Atlanta until reports began to surface that I had apparently reneged on an agreement with this [finger quotes] "Braves" franchise."  Asked if he remembered nothing of his playing time with Atlanta, where he spent 6 seasons, Furcal seemed to become angry and insisted that he had played his entire career with the Dodgers.  "I was born in LA, I grew up here, broke into the majors here, and I have played my entire career here.  I intend to retire here as well, which is why I was so confused that anyone would think that I would sign anywhere else," answered Furcal in a diatribe that contained virtually no true statements.
"No, see how he's pointing like that?  That's Jose Reyes.  He's the only one who does that.  And I've never seen that uniform before - I don't know why he's wearing it," said Furcal, when asked if he recognized this photo of Furcal celebrating a walk off home run with Atlanta in 2004.
