The NY Mets rode an 8th inning, 10 run rally to victory against the Braves today, 6/30/2000.  The Mets entered the 8th down 8-1, but Robin Ventura drove in the first run of the rally with a one out RBI groundout to make it 8-2 with 2 outs.  The Mets scored 9 more runs in the inning, all with 2 outs.  Todd Zeile (who always seems to come through in the clutch these days) delivered with a single to score Piazza.  Kerry Ligtenberg walked in 2 runs, and Terry Mulholland added to the Braves woes by walking in another on his first batter.  Leo Mazzone nearly rocked himself into a coma.  Edgardo Alfonzo followed with a 2 strike, 2 run single to tie the game.  The final blow came when Mike Piazza drove the first pitch he saw over the left field fence for a 3 run homer, which turned out to be all the Mets needed as Armando Benitez surrenders a single, a hit, and nothing more in the top of the 9th to give the Mets an 11-8 victory.

Steven Seagal reports this staring at the "48 days until Pitchers and Catchers Report" icon and weeping quietly.
