Texas Rangers CF Josh Hamilton opted to have the minor tear in his abdominal muscle repaired surgically, putting him on the DL for the next 4 to 6 weeks. Unlike most players who would normally resign themselves to surgery during the offseason or only when it would surely affect the longevity of their careers, Hamilton was eager to have surgery.  Hamilton is quoted as saying "I can't wait to have surgery and get all that sweet sweet vicodin, oxycontin, fenanyl, ultram, percodan, percocet, endocet, demerol, lortab, norco, pethidine and lorcet so that I can recover from this injury quickly and feel so fucking good".
When notified of the surgery, Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler said that "[surgery] beats sucking dick for drugs. At least he's doing it legally. The drugs that is, not the dick sucking".
